What To Expect
When you call FUNctionabilities, you will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns and learn a little about theways in which we can help your child through our pediatric therapy services. Our intake specialists will guide you through the process of getting started. An appointment will be made for an evaluation with a therapist who best fits the needs of your child. You will be sent our intake paperwork which will help you navigate the insurance and billing process. Please check your SPAM folders if you do not see our email and whitelist us so that you can better receive any future communications from us. Our Care Coordinator and Therapy Liaison are focused on the needs of you and your child, so please feel free to present any questions you might have along the way.
Fill in the intake paperwork and return them to our office via fax, email, mail, or drop it off at our office. This allows our therapist to be prepared for your child’s evaluation and further individualize our care.
The Receptionist will greet you and your child for your first appointment and introduce you to the therapist. Payments are collected up front, so be ready to pay with cash or credit card. Our clinic was designed with your child in mind and is full of therapists eager to help children piece their world together and flourish.
The initial appointment will begin with a brief consultation with the treating therapist, which provides you an opportunity to express concerns and ask questions. Following this meeting, the therapist will begin the evaluation process, which includes clinical observations and standardized assessments of your child. While the therapist is completing the evaluation, the Care Coordinator or Therapy Liaison will introduce themselves and take you on a brief tour of our clinic, where you will swiftly discover why children love coming to FUNctionabilities! We do our best to tailor our evaluations to the specific needs of your child, your family, and your insurance. Some children require the full evaluation time while others do not. Occasionally, our therapist may ask for more time to do more testing with your child but typically the entire evaluation is completed in one day. If additional testing is warranted, we will ask your permission to perform these tests and can go over the cost at that time.
Your child’s therapist will make recommendations and begin treatment right away. To ensure that we cater our evaluation reports anddevelop a treatment plan for your child, we typically wait until the next week to give you a written report of our treatment plan for your child. At this time the therapist will briefly go over the report and answer any questions that you may have. The Receptionist will set up ongoing appointments, as is recommended by your therapist. We try our best to set up appointments that work best for you and your child. Regular attendance and communication with parents will produce the best results!
- If you would like more time to review the report with the therapist you may speak with the Receptionist at the front desk to discuss consultation options.
